First day of skiing
Held Shabbos through Sunday morning. Really wanted to sleep a second night in Shabbos. Last Shabbos I was engaged in Drum Corp, driving over, missing candle lighting time, was thinking of it at the rest area before Barstow, CA, then remembered how unsatisfying it was driving through Wyoming with my father blowing out my candles while we drove... that was how I lite on time. So hit Anaheim, did rehearsal, checked into the motel (really nice room, thanks!) did candle lighting and Shabbos dinner. Oh ya, we marched and played at NAMM. Ya! Week before flew to Milwaukee for Uncle Gene's funeral and even through I arrived at 3 PM my brother couldn't get me until 7 PM. I had the opportunity to light candles, I was in my cousins room, but didn't. Wanted to wait until I was tucked away at my brothers instead of discussing the entire thing with my cousin. Had pulled an all niter and was exhausted, just didn't have the energy to deal. So! This was my first full on Shabbos again after 2 weeks of traveling on Shabbos. So! I held Shabbos over until today. However I did want to ski. Woke up around noon, did Havdalah, did some client work and got my ski stuff together. Whole thing was entirely mellow. I was content even if I didn't get up in there in time to ski. Just getting it all together. However I did get up there in time for the last run. Went past the blue diamond drop off up to the top to start my first run via black diamond run. So so so so so so so so FUN! Kept the head phones off, listening to the sounds of the mountain. Hearing people yell with joy, so cool. Helped a little boy and his mom navigate to the blue and kept an eye on them until past logjam when after speaking with ski patrol I was certain they were watching for them. Met great gal Shane, she had skins on her telemark skis and was hiking up. She knew the chemical name for those ATP things Janet told me about. So, met people, helped people, said hi to the mountain, let it know how beautiful and loved it is, said thank yous to MOM, the whole world is filled with her glory. Skied slick. Guidance in my head said I would not fall, get in the front seat, carve through the toes, "You're an eagle soaring". So fun.
Note to self start a Looking into the Light blog and attach to site.
Now time for mellophone practice. Building chops is a daily activity. Then scoop the kitties inside, make turkey chili and celebrate more Malava malka.
